Dramaturg

Dramaturgs are people like stage directors, right? So if that’s the case, then Alex is a dramaturg. :) She does a very good job when it comes to catching things that happen in scripts and makes stuff happen. When she did Grease, she made it a priority to overlook the script and hand out better ideas to interpret and improve scenes.

Constantin Stanislavski (1863- 1938)

REALISM

Born: January 5, 1863

Died: 1938

Work: He took the stage at the age of 25, working in Russia. He worked in the theatre business almost until his death.

Other Collaborators: Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, Chekov and Gorki

Theatre Established: Moscow Art Theatre

His “System”:

  • stressed social consciousness and emphasis on the importance of imagery and theme rather than plot
  • centered around social issues of the time period
  • portrayed Soviet propaganda
